SOCK HOP and BACK
TO SCHOOL BASH
August 20, 2010
OSLC enjoyed an
evening of fellowship and 50s nostalgia with a Back to School Bash
and a 50s & 60s Sock Hop. The fellowship hall was transformed into a
high school gym with decorations from the era. Hamburgers and french
fries were served 50's style and the coke and root beer ice cream
floats were delicious! We had a hoola-hoop contest, as well as
competitions for best dressed, the limbo, and the twist! Phil Urban
was the “Master of Music” with tunes by Elvis Presley and assorted
50's and other dance music. Jerry Marcum was also kind enough to
share his vintage Mustang with us for the festivities, and Wayne
Lybrand manned the live photo booth. The Lydia Circle raised an
additional $400 contributed by the Lexington-Saluda Chapter of
Thrivent for their WELCA fund raiser and collected over $200 in
school supplies. THANK YOU for your generosity in this, and for
supporting this WELCA endeavor. A special thank you to Phil Urban
(aka Elvis) for donating his time for this event. A COOL time was
had by the children and adults of OSLC!!
