The Elderberries were very busy during 2011. Our January
meeting was held at the church. We planned our year and had Shred 360 as our
program. They talked to us regarding the proper way to shred different
documents, papers, CD’s and magazines.
In February Mr. Robbie Derrick from Clemson Extension told us
how landscape is determined in Lexington Count when new shopping centers and
malls are constructed. Also informed us about trees that cannot be cut or
destroyed due to age, history or right-of-ways.
Rev. Donna Peele, Chair of Pastoral Care at LMC was our March
speaker. She explained how the pastoral care services work at the hospital and
the different services it offers to patients and families.
On Saturday, April 30, the Elderberries sponsored a shred
day (Shred Day) for the community in conjunction with InAsMuch. We had almost
5,000 lbs of paper shredded. Time for a trip—so in July we had to have peaches
and fresh vegetables. Most of all, McLeod Farms peach ice cream. Therefore, a
trip to McBee was in order.
October was lunch time at church and time to plan our
Homecoming at Thanksgiving dinner. Dinner was November 20 with the congregation
inviting family and friends. A covered dish dinner was served. On Monday,
November 21, we were guests of Transfiguration Lutheran for their Thanksgiving
meal. 18 people attended.
In April and December we had Mrs. Gayle McLeod and chorus
from SRAA perform for us and as always, it was a pleasure to have these talented
young people perform for us.
