2011 Report
2011 was an interesting year for the property committee. We continued to battle problems with a number of air conditioners throughout the church. Extensive repairs had to be made to the unit that services the chapel and we had to make repairs to the air conditioner that services the narthex as well as a leaking thru the wall unit in the conference room. We also cut a vent into the robe room so that the acolytes and crucifers would have some air circulation during extremely hot or cold months. Additionally, we have replaced light bulbs and were able to re-aim the exterior lights so that they light up the stained glass windows.

We added new sounds to our place of worship by retrofitting and reconfiguring our existing PA and Wireless technology to allow sound to be transmitted to every room of the church, regardless of source.

We were also able to make significant improvements to the sanctuary itself by retrofitting the sanctuary lamp so that no ash falls to the altar and the candle shines and burns brighter.

We were able to raise money from the congregation to reshingle the roof for $25,000. We also had enough money left over to paint the exterior of the sanctuary, Narthex, choir room and offices. We also were able to rebuild the wall that hides the main sanctuary air conditioner that was replaced last year.

With the use of funds from memorial and gifts, LMM and WELCA, we were also able to purchase and install a new playground for the children of the church. Landscape Management, Blue Light Cleaning  and Yelton Plumbing  continue to provide maintenance services to the church. We changed our HVAC repair to Cassell Heat and Air. I am extremely grateful for all of the time and efforts each of the committee members provided to OSLC this past year.

 Responsibilities include but are not limited to  turning ON and OFF the lights and the HVAC units in the Cameron Building, the Sanctuary, and the Narthex before and after all services at the church and, most importantly, securing and locking all doors. Heat/air-conditioning should be turned on so the facilities will be heated/cooled before services and before Sunday Church School, funerals, weddings, and other events as scheduled.

 

 Memorial Garden is an ideal place for quiet meditation.

 

Our new Playground gives our youth a safe place to have fun.
